What the church teaches ...

Protestants who are critical of Catholicism typically misrepresent the teachings of the Catholic Church. When studying Catholicism before converting, I was saddened to discover that literally everything I was taught about Catholicism was distorted or false. I became a Christian in the first place because I wanted to follow truth.

I should note that some Catholics don't know their faith very well, and they believe and practice things which are contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

My prayer is that Protestants who are critical of Catholicism would stop misrepresenting the teachings and practice of the Catholic Church.

What Catholics Believe	Many teachings and doctrines. Some are similar to Protestant doctrine but some are very different. Quotes from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Marian Doctrines	References from the Early Church Fathers.
Eucharist	This Catholic doctrine is written about very early in church history. Communion is not merely a symbol to be performed in obedience -- rather, it is literally the presence of Christ Himself.
Binding and Loosing	Jesus made remarkable statements to Peter and the apostles which the Catholic Church uses as the basis for the papacy and other important doctrines.
The Council of Trent	Many quotes from the Council of Trent dealing with certain doctrinal issues of interest in the Catholic-Protestant debate.
Vatican II	The Second Vatican Council, an Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church which took place between 1962 and 1965.

From the Code of Canon Law: Can. 989 All the faithful who have reached the age of discretion are bound faithfully to confess their grave sins at least once a year.
