Social distancing

Having to keep your distance from other people socially because of the virus.

I was driving to buy groceries, the usual trip along the usual route. Noticing the other cars around me, it occurred to me: the cars having passengers were at risk, but solo drivers were safe.

This is the opposite of what has been emphasized for decades:

  1. drive with as many people in the car as possible
  2. take crowded public transportation
  3. jam into small spaces at work in open office configurations
  4. crowded cities

But in the era of viruses, the opposite is necessary for health and safety.

This virus pandemic is taking us back to an earlier age.
