The Real You

Each of us will live forever. However, each will die physically some day; the body dies, but not the soul. So it is tempting to say that I am my soul, not my body. Many religions and spiritual philosophical systems are founded on this idea (read more here).

The Christian view is that each of us has a soul, and while alive in this present universe, also a body. After death each will continue to live in the spirit realm. But finally, one day this universe will be re-constituted and each of us who are redeemed will again inhabit the new heavens and new earth in body and soul. It will be glorious.

Thus, our true nature consists of both body and soul.

Some Christians make a strong distinction between soul and spirit — I make no such distinction (read more here).

In a Fog . . .

We are currently living in a spiritual fog.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)

We are in a spiritual life and death struggle but are blind to the reality of the spiritual world.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. (2 Corinthians 10:4)

We occasionally have glimpses of this spiritual realm, some people more than others. Some have had visions and some have seen apparitions.

Living With Wicked Spirits . . .

The soul, not the body, is the center of consciousness: we will still be alive and aware even after the death of the body. Thus, we live in a spiritual realm closely connected with the earth, with the physical universe. (There are many levels in the spiritual realm.) Unfortunately, at the fall of Adam and Eve, God removed his grace which protected humans from these wicked spirits and they were allowed to reside in this same spiritual realm as us. We are literally living with the wicked spirits.

Our souls are very sensitive and impressionable. We are continually bombarded with the horrific ideas and suggestions of the wicked spirits. Our souls are too weak to resist the onslaught of suggestions to act in a manner which dishonors God and inflicts harm on one another.

The Soul is Life All that is living is soul. Materialistic science is wrong — the soul is the important thing, not the universe and the natural laws.
