The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that the Bible explicitly teaches the amillennial viewpoint.
Summary
In order to accept the amillennial viewpoint (or any other end-time viewpoint) it is necessary to justify it from the Bible. If we can't adequately do this with amillennialism, then it should be rejected (read about methods of interpretation).
In order to demonstrate that amillennialism is a reasonable viewpoint we need to demonstrate the following:
- The 1,000 years of Revelation 20 is figurative.
- The promises to Israel were either (1) already fulfilled, (2) conditional, or (3) are applied to the church.
- Christ's second coming is followed by the final judgment and the destruction of the world by fire (more info).
- The new covenant is the Church (more info).
- That God is finished with the nation of Israel in the prophetic scheme of things.
